RED FLOWERS IN A CUP

Acrylic vs Water Colour…

I used only the primary colors magenta(red), cyan(blue), and yellow, with black and white to paint these. I wanted to see the difference between acrylic paints and water colour paints.

The acrylic was really thick and I found it got thicker as I mixed colours. It might have been easier if I had used more paint on the palette, but I kept wanting to add water to thin them out.

On the flip side I have a hard time painting water colours in the conventional watered down way. I try, but it ends up quite dense in texture. I found the water colours harder to achieve the hues and tones I wanted.
